In de Graduation Show van de Master Design presenteren tien ontwerpers de resultaten van hun design research. Zij deden hun onderzoek binnen zeer verschillende ontwerpdomeinen en -disciplines. De diversiteit in onderwerpen, ontwerpvragen en aanpakken laten dat zien. Wat de ontwerpers bindt is het idee van waaruit zij hun onderzoek vormgaven. Iedere ontwerper heeft zijn/haar eigen aanpak of methode ontwikkeld vanuit drie perspectieven: design research doen, het erover vertellen door middel van storytelling en een krachtige positie en rol ontwikkelen in de nieuwe praktijk.
Zo ontdekte Suze Swarte verhalen in data, vond Karlijn Souren een betekenisvolle manier om food design in sociale vraagstukken in te zetten, daagde Thomas Tiel Groenstege de openheid van de openbare ruimte uit, nam Jan-Wessel Hovingh onze omgang met privacy onder de loep, verbond Charley Muhren mensen door ze te laten tekenen, vond Pierke Hulshof een insteek op een duurzamere omgang met hout, zette Linda Wassenaar binnen onderzoeken en rapportages van de Algemene Rekenkamer visualisatie in, maakte Maartje Boer een collectie gebreide kleding duurzamer door personalisatie, stimuleerde Louise Elferink de creativiteit van de ontwerpende MBO’er en gaf Ruben Ferwerda conversation pieces een plek binnen de stedenbouw.
In de tentoonstelling tijdens de Graduation Show laten zij hun processen, ontwerpen en storytelling zien. Op vrijdag 6 en zaterdag 7 juli presenteren en pitchen zij hun design research live.
Bovendien nodigen op donderdag 5 juli tweedejaars studenten het publiek tijdens korte design research-sessies uit.

In the Graduation Show of the WdKA Master Design, ten designers present the results of their design research. They have done these studies within very diverse design domains and disciplines. The differences in subject, design question and approach show for that. What binds these designers is the methodology from which they have designed their research. Every designer has developed his/her own approach or method from three perspectives: doing design research, telling about it through storytelling and developing a powerful position and role in the new practice.
Designer Suze Swarte investigated the stories in data, Karlijn Souren found meaningful ways to apply food design into social issues, Thomas Tiel Groenstege challenged the openness of public space, Jan-Wessel Hovingh looked closely at how we deal with privacy, Charley Muhren connected people by letting them draw together, Pierke Hulshof found an approach to a more sustainable use of wood, Linda Wassenaar found how the Court of Audit can use more images in her research and reports, Maartje Boer made a collection of knitted apparel through personalization more durable, Louise Elferink stimulated creativity in young designers in MBO-education and Ruben Ferwerda gave a place to conversation pieces in urban design.
As part of the Graduation Show, graduates will exhibit their processes, designs and storytelling. On Friday 6 and Saturday 7 July, they will present and pitch their design research live. [Language: Dutch]
In addition, on Thursday 5 July current students invite the public to participate in short design research sessions.
