Marguerite de Geus: Sacred Scenes

Sat 27 Apr

Psynapse gallery cordially invites you to the opening of the exhibition Sacred Scenes by Marguerite de Geus (Fine Art & Design Teacher Training, 2011) on Sunday, 12 May at 15:00 by curator Jesse van Oosten.

The solo exhibition shows new work by Marguerite including paintings, collages and performances. In Sacred Scenes, lying down humans look at the spectators, they are not moving but merging with the scenery. In a process of change, nothing else is possible, except surrendering to the present moment.

Marguerite De Geus sees contemporary phenomena such as loneliness, burnout and depression as a result of the fact that many people no longer feel connected to their own body, fellow human beings and nature. According to her, change is only possible from within: we will have to let go of our ego-centric state of being. In her work, Marguerite investigates how this transformation process takes shape.
