This year’s winner of the annual North Sea Jazz art poster competition is Sonja Schravesande, a first year Illustration student at WdKA.

These 15 posters will be exhibited during the North Sea Jazz Festival. The jury will announce the number 2 and 3 winners in july during the exhibition and festive award evening (details and date will follow). Swipe to see all selected works for the exhibition, the posters (2-15) are shown in random order.

Nominated students 2023: Sonja Schravesande, Merlijn Mollinga, Pepijn Kolsteren, Kico de Haan, My Nguyen, Remy de Boysere, Luuk Daudeij, Suheda Saricam, Tina Fareghi, Hana Lee, Sam van Iersel, Carmen Roux, Selin Alp, Yana Haaitsma, Jung Hyewon.

“I already had the idea of a fish morphing into a trumpet in mind for a few weeks but it only started looking like the final result a few hours before the deadline. Where some people would consider the use of a fish and a trumpet as a cliché, I think it's actually quite special how such simple images can immediately make you think of North Sea Jazz”, says winner Sonja.

“Winning this competition gave me more confidence in my own process and decision making.”

Congratulations Sonja!
