Organisation

The Willem de Kooning Academy is an internationally leading academy for bachelor's and master's programmes in media, art, design, leisure and art education. The academy stands for groundbreaking art education, in which connections with social partners and education partners (RASL) give substance to an academy that constantly questions its own boundaries. In addition to art education, the academy also offers economic education aimed at entrepreneurship in the creative industry. WdKA's mission and vision are aimed at developing new ideas about the relevance of the artist, educator, producer or designer and to help our students become the artistic professionals that will respond to tomorrow’s world with a critical vision, energy and care. Our education is distinguished by the three pillars, majors, stations and practices that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and provides our students with the unique opportunity to become proficient in both their craft and the context in which they come to work. Next to this research is a key pillar. WdKA is a large academy that nevertheless feels small in the way in which teams of teachers and students work together. EDI, security, curiosity and ambition are values that are cherished regardless of the size and associated complexity of the organisation and systems. With approximately 400 colleagues, WdKA educates more than 2500 students.
