On November 6, the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig welcomes Aymeric Mansoux for a lecture titled Permacomputing in the Arts, part of the ongoing series (Un)Learning Digitalities, curated by the Büro für Digitale Lehre.
Aymeric Mansoux, research professor of applied research at the WdKA, invites attendees to critically examine the entanglement of art and design with digital infrastructures. The lecture addresses the historical relationship between artistic practices and information and communication technologies (ICT), and questions the effectiveness of alternative approaches that still rely on problematic systems. Rather than merely critiquing technology’s impact, Mansoux proposes a radical shift in how artists and educators engage with digital tools. He introduces permacomputing, a community of practice focused on sustainable, resilient, and ethically aware approaches to digital production. This movement encourages creators to rethink their dependencies on extractive technologies and to build new infrastructures rooted in ecological and social responsibility.
The event is co-financed by the European Union and supported by tax revenue based on the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.
