We are proud to announce that Willem de Kooning Academy alumni Hippolyte Rene Bazin de Jouy (Fine Art) and Maoro Bultheel (Product Design) have been selected for the first edition of SIGNAL ’26.
On Friday 16 October, twenty recent graduates from Dutch art and design academies will come together for a one-night exhibition at an unexpected location: level -2 of Q-Park Museumplein in Amsterdam. From 18:00 to 21:00, the underground car park will be transformed into an exhibition space where the selected makers will present their work to the public and professionals from the cultural sector.
SIGNAL ’26 was created to support emerging artists and designers in the transition from art school to professional practice. The selected makers will have the opportunity to connect directly with curators, museum directors, gallerists, collectors, creative directors, commissioners, editors and press, with the aim of opening up opportunities for exhibitions, commissions and collaborations.
The selection was made by a nine-member curatorial board, including artist Raquel van Haver, fashion designer Tess van Zalinge, Samir Bantal, director of AMO, and Emma Waslander, curator at the Amsterdam Museum. The board selected the participants based on artistic urgency, rather than discipline, existing visibility or audience size.
For this first edition, SIGNAL ’26 brings together work across visual art, fashion, textiles, jewellery, painting, graphic design, sculpture, photography, film and digital art.
