WdKA Honours Programme

Willem de Kooning Academy
Mon 17 Sep

The Honours Programme is a student-driven educational programme. In the Honours Programme, the students work alongside senior lecturers, research professors and external experts on complex, self-formulated societal questions. Within this context, students develop own learning path and reflect upon it, as well as investigate, coordinate, collaborate, experiment and create new knowledge. At the end of the Honours trajectory and having successfully completed the Final Assessment, the students receive a ‘Declaration Honours Degree’. This degree is an addition to the Bachelor diploma which indicates that the students have mastered the competence profile “Learning to Innovate” from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.

The Honours Programme at the Willem de Kooning Academy is closely related to existing research frameworks, such as professorships and RASL (Rotterdam Arts and Sciences Lab). Due to its focus on knowledge creation and research skills, the Honours Programme is a good place for students who want to orient themselves on a higher vocational (HBO) or university (WO) master, national as well as international.

For whom is the Honours Programme intended?

The Honours Programme is open to all students who:

  • are interested in giving direction to their own learning path;
  • are keen to engage with students for other programmes at the WdKA and show the evident interest to cooperate with them;
  • have an affinity with research;
  • are interested to fathom their studies on a theoretical level.
