Meet Our Tutors: Gaspard Bos

Gaspard Bos
Mon 31 Aug

Name, the branch of knowledge, subject

My branch of knowledge is Social/Transitional/Connected (Product) Design. At WdKA I teach Product Design and New Earth study path in the Social Practices.

What inspires you?

Societal issues are my drive and technology is my fascination. I keep being inspired by my life-partner who is a PhD in Gender studies. This comes back in my most recent project 'Pathfinders'.

What defines you as a tutor? Your strongest points?

I have an Msc of the Delft University of Technology where I had learned to be very structured. I think I can help students at WdKA a lot with this knowledge because it is so easy to get lost in a creative process.

Relationship therapist for people and things.

What is your dream/goal as a tutor?

To make sure that the new generations of designers learn to think for themselves. To change education from preparing people to become production slaves to meaningful contributors to society.

Name one item from your bucket list?

Learning different languages and working in different countries. I have already learned Spanish and worked in Peru. Now, I want to learn Mandarin and work in Taiwan.

Whom would you call true innovator?

Marc Cornelissen. Marc was a polar explorer who I had worked for as a student. He had built weather stations and had taken them to the North Pole to measure local climate change. He died a few years ago during an expedition, giving his life for the earth. There should be more people like him.
