The RASL Minor is driven by societal urgency. Complex social concerns, such as climate crises, shifting political landscapes, ecological degradation and growing inequalities demand adaptability and future thinking. In this minor, students from different backgrounds across the arts and sciences work together on transdisciplinary research projects in order to address a self-chosen societal issue. To gain more insight in the pedagogical approach take a look at the publication ‘Provisional Pedagogies in Zones of Tension’, and this conversation with the minor tutors.

We chose to title this video “Balance”, because participating in the RASL minor helped Claire find balance between her scientific and creative background. Exploring the possibilities in the space where the arts and sciences meet, is something RASL aims to encourage and facilitate with this minor.
This short video is part of a series of interviews that make audible the voices of everyone involved in the RASL minor. The video series was made on the occasion of RASL’s nomination for the Dutch Higher Education Premium (Nederlands Hoger Onderwijs Premie). Stay tuned to hear more of these stories.
