How much does it cost to live and study in the Netherlands? And how are you going to finance all of this?Annual tuition fees for students from an EU/EEA country, Switzerland or Suriname start at € 2,314,00 for the academic year 2023-2024.
Tuition Fees
The study fees in the Netherlands are quite low in comparison with other countries in the world.
The amount that you will be required to pay depends on your citizenship (EU or Non-EU) and the programme you are enrolled in (BA or MA). You pay tuition fees each year. The tuition fees are determined each year and therefore subject to change.
We distinguish two types of tuition fees for two groups of students:
Fees for EU/EEA students
Annual tuition fees for students from an EU/EEA country, Switzerland or Suriname start at € 2,314,00 for the academic year 2023-2024.
Fees for NON-EU students
Tuition fees are set each year by the Dutch government. EU students are subsidized, they do not pay the real cost of their education. The situation
is different for those who do not come from the EU: the government wants tuition fees for non-EU students to be cost-effective.
Students who do not meet the requirements for the statutory fee, pay the institutional fee.
For 2023/2024 this fee is:€ 9.174,- (bachelor) and € 11.594,00 (master)
Fees for Refugees
Students who have been officially recognised by the UAF (the Foundation for Refugee Students) are required to pay the same tuition fees as EU/EEA students.
