Creative and inspired, economically-driven and practical. You are at the centre of a buzzing cosmopolitan city with infinite opportunities for young talent. You are at the heart of regional development: life, work, recreation, sport and entertainment. Conquer Rotterdam and you conquer the world!
In a market that is characterised by higher consumer expectations while at the same time dealing with dwindling finances, there is a need for leisure managers who can produce. Leisure managers with a ‘hands-on’ mentality, who are able to take on an entire process, from initial development to roll-out, and who do this with a strategically underpinned vision. Leisure managers who do not only have affinity with the profession, but who will let nothing stand in their way.
A perspective of the future in which every day is a new experience? Days filled with inspiration, communication and creativity? The Leisure Management study programme offers opportunities for life. Free time is the experience economy, and you can add to it in a multitude of different ways. A dazzling music festival, outdoor fitness or preparing Rotterdam for the Olympic Games. Welcome to the largest service industry of our time: leisure management. The city, its residents, entrepreneurs, consumers – they all come together in the leisure management world. And you are the hub. You and your ideas. As an adroit creative with a talent for building bridges you can put a city on the map or make a museum commercially viable. You develop concepts, set up projects, manage and promote: you are the director of the leisure experience.
Our Rotterdam leisure producers take on assignments for the Rotterdam International Film Festival and the Paradiso pop music venue. Over the last few years, they have been a successful part of projects for War Child, BrainsXChange and 3FM Serious Request.
After you graduate, you can work as an event manager, programmer, project worker, communications advisor, marketeer, consultant, producer or concept developer.
Our successful Leisure Management alumni include: Eva van der Vegt (Evanement!); Pamela Sylvester (FIRST training & advice); Nuray Kursun (AN & NAS); Jeanine Roelse; Femke Rensen (internet marketeer Landal Green Parks); Bart Proost; Gerard van Ruth (Instore Events); Ruud Tjepkema and Joël Paalvast.
