Research: knowledge centres and lectorates
As one of the institutes of the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, the Willem de Kooning Academy has access to an extremely wide knowledge and research network. The thirteen institutes of the university of applied sciences focus on five regionally embedded themes that are discussed in the following centres of knowledge:
- Creating 010
- Innovative Entrepreneurship
- Talent Development
- Innovation in Care
A team of lectors – senior professionals and academics in various fields – carry out research in these centres of knowledge, making an important contribution to the development and dissemination of knowledge. A knowledge centre consists of a lector and a team of experts. These lectors are experts in specialist fields. They often combine their work as lector with an appointment elsewhere, which means they are very much aware of current issues in professional practice. They use this and other experience plus their particular knowledge to stimulate and facilitate innovation in practice. Businesses and public institutions can contact the knowledge centres for research and advice.
In and of itself, the Willem de Kooning Academy has a strong connection to the Creating 010 knowledge centre. Creating 010 looks at how to create more network connections in the creative industry, the artistic profession, designers and IT specialists that cooperate with other professional fields. The creative industry is at the forefront of innovation in the economy and society. It is one of the three mainstays of the regional development programme. The Creating 010 knowledge centre supports the city’s creative sector to achieve its full potential and stimulates best practice.
